Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino invites the public to help welcome and celebrate our sea-going military personnel by participating in the Seminole Paradise “All Hands on Deck” Fleet Week kick-off party.
Approximately 1,000 men and women from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy will convene in Broward for South Florida’s largest meet and greet. A variety of fun and friendly activities including a dating game at Center Fountain, a swimsuit competition, a Navy Band concert and a patriotic fireworks salute will add to the festive atmosphere.
Seminole Paradise retailers will also be offering various food and drink specials all evening.
Fleet Week is part of Broward Navy Days 2009. Each year, thousands of sailors aboard several ships dock in Port Everglades for a week-long series of community service projects, special events and more. This year’s sailors hail from the dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) from Little Creek, VA, guided missile destroyer USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98) from Norfolk, VA, Coast Guard cutter USCGC Tahoma (WMEC 908) from Portsmouth, NH, submarine USS Toledo (SSN 769) from Groton, Conn. and Canadian auxiliary oiler replenishment ship HMCS Preserver (AOR 510) from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Also participating are military personnel from Naval Beach Group Two from Little Creek, VA, Riverine Squadron Three from Yorktown, VA., Marines from 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion from Camp Lejeune, NC and 170 Sailors from the Navy’s Riverine Squadron.
