In honor of Earth Day on April 22, Hard Rock Hotel San Diego will plant a tree through the American Forests’ Global ReLeaf program for every guest checking in during the month of April. An estimated 5,000 trees will be planted through the hotel’s inaugural “Roots Rock” program to benefit Global ReLeaf, a program that has planted over 30 million trees across the United States and internationally since 1990.
“Save the Planet is one of Hard Rock’s brand pillars and one that we embrace here in San Diego,” said Matt Greene, general manager at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego. “Global ReLeaf is a remarkable program that we are proud to support. Earth Day is only one day, but we look forward to celebrating all month long and funding the planting of as many trees as we can.”
While it’s the first time the hotel has planted trees for its guests, the “Roots Rock” initiative was born from an internal program developed by a department director who rewarded his staff’s high customer service survey scores with trees planted in their honor. Each month, trees are planted when the staff achieves excellent scores, and since the beginning of the program 200 trees have been planted for Hard Rock employees. The program has proven to further motivate Hard Rock Hotel employees, who are as passionate about positively impacting the environment as they are about providing guest service that rocks.
“We’re very pleased to partner with Hard Rock Hotel San Diego in honor of Earth Day this April,” said American Forests’ Acting Executive Director Gerry Gray. “With their generous support, we will be able not only to plant an estimated 5,000 trees, but also to raise awareness about the importance of trees in restoring the health and maintaining the services of ecological systems.”
The “Roots Rock” program will take place from April 1 through 30. For information or to book a reservation at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, please visit www.hardrockhotelsd.com or call 888-593-6177.
