Our Punta Cana hotel is in a town of the same name on the eastern-most edge of the Dominican Republic, right where the Caribbean Sea meets the tropical Atlantic. It’s on this island that Columbus rocked the planet by establishing the first permanent European settlement in the New (to him) World. The native Taino people didn’t get an official holiday named after them, but they should, if only because they gave us barabicu, a.k.a. barbecue.
There’s so much to do at our Punta Cana resort, on both land and sea. What’s your passion? Catamarans? Speed boats? Glass-bottomed boats? The DR’s East Coast waters are so clear, this is one of the best spots in the world for deep sea fishing, diving, snorkeling, kiteboarding, and windsurfing.
Even though we have so much to offer at our Punta Cana beach resort, we recommend you explore the rest of the region. You can visit the markets in Boca de Yuma, a fishing village dated from the 16th century, explore pirate history on foot, by snorkel or SCUBA, including the preserved wreck of Captain Kidd. Punta Cana-Bavaro has 22 diving sites, after all. Are you more old school? You can find pre-Colombian pictographs and petroglyphs of the Taino in underground caves throughout the nearby national park.
