SVP Business Development - Casinos, Asia
Daniel Cheng spearheads the development of new business opportunities for Hard Rock in the Asia Pacific region. With extensive experience in the field of casino gaming, he reinforces the company’s emphasis to extend the Hard Rock casino footprint into Asia, as well as being the first senior management representative in the region to the rapidly growing network of Hard Rock’s license, management & franchise partners.
Daniel’s career track record in the casino gaming industry began with Las Vegas-based Mikohn Gaming in the early 2000s, and subsequently joined Bally Technologies as its Asia Director to penetrate the Macau and developing Asian casino market. Before joining Hard Rock, he was with the Genting Group for 9 years, where he held multiple roles in assisting the company to enter new casino markets and business areas.
He began his career as an engineer in the field of instrumentation & process control, which led him to accumulate a wealth of experience across Asia and worldwide, including Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea, China, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. Daniel holds a Bachelor of Psychology degree from SIM University of Singapore, as well as multiple tertiary graduate diplomas in sales and marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and the Marketing Institute of Singapore, and in electronics and communications engineering.
Daniel has a strong affiliation to the 80’s era music genre and is a fan of Billy Joel and John Mellencamp. He also follows jazz blues artists like Art Pepper, Charlie Parker and Beth Hart. As a longsuffering ardent supporter of Liverpool F.C., he is big English football fan and is a member of the business committee of the Football Association of Singapore. Football aside, he holds a golf handicap that belies his passion for the sport.
