On 19th December 2018, in conjunction with the soft launch of Hard Rock Roxity Kids Club , Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast extended a performance and lunch invitation to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Cahaya Surya Bakti (CSB), a Johor NGO running 3 schools for Rohingya refugee children. 30 kids aged between 7 to 16 and their teachers visited the hotel.

Puan Soraya Alkaff, the Founder & Executive Director of CSB said that the children were very excited to board the bus to the hotel and were eager to start the day early. Thrilled to be the first ever act on the Hard Rock Roxity Kids Club stage, the children sang ABBA’s ‘I have a dream’ a Capella. Soraya explained that this song was chosen as the teachers wanted to inspire the children to have dreams and ambition.

The audience was also entertained by the younger children presenting Pinkfong’s trending Korean Baby Shark Dance. The performance ended with a popular local folk song, Rasa Sayang, where the audience all sang and clapped their hands in unison.

General Manager, Yogeswaran Veerasamy, shared that the hotel has plans to assist the school to include music lessons as part of their curriculum in 2019. He said, “Since 1971, Hard Rock International has been deeply philanthropic through the Hard Rock Heals Foundation which is a global effort that provides grants and assistance to individuals whose goal is to heal through the power of music. We at Hard Rock hope to create a long-term partnership with CSB to improve the lives of these children through the power of music.” This collaboration between Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast and CSB also emphasizes Hard Rock’s commitment to its motto – “Take Time to be Kind”, and it’s calling to make a difference to the local community.

After the heartwarming performance, staff members of Hard Rock Hotel taught the children how to make miniature Christmas trees out of craft and recycled materials at the Roxity kids club activity room. Before heading home, the teachers and students were treated to a scrumptious lunch buffet at the hotel’s restaurant, Sessions. They departed from the hotel bearing Christmas gifts from the hotel and Desaru Coast Malaysia.
